AIRPORT TRAFFIC REMAINED FLAT IN JANUARY

Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) declined 0.6 percent for January in comparison with the same month last year.* During the month, 54,345 passengers flew in or out of the county-operated airport, compared to 54,685 passengers last January.

For the 12 months ending Jan. 30, total passenger traffic at DAB increased 1.4 percent with 710,410 passengers traveling through the facility last year compared to 720,485 passengers this year.

“A significant weather system in the northeast affected all three airlines for several days in January,” said Airport Director Rick Karl. “American Airlines was impacted the most, causing nearly three days of flight cancellations for the carrier. In all, DAB had 21 flight cancellations in January.”

Karl added: “Load factors and capacity were all up for the month, which is a great indicator of sustainable and continued growth in the market. Barring any more major weather events, 2018 is shaping up to be another positive year, with load factors trending up and capacity forecasted to be up for the reminder of the year.”
