Airport traffic up 1 percent in May

Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) increased 1.7 percent for May in comparison with the same month last year.* During the month, 68,418 passengers flew in or out of the county-operated airport, compared to 67,272 passengers last May.

For the 12 months ending May 31, total passenger traffic at DAB increased 4 percent, with 702,737 passengers traveling through the facility last year compared to 731,487 passengers this year.

"May marks the fourth straight month of passenger traffic increases over 2017", said Airport Director Rick Karl.

Karl added: "Our traffic numbers continue to grow year over year because demand consistently exceeds the capacity added by both American and Delta. This year has followed our recent trend of record growth. However, American Airlines (Piedmont) reported over 20 flight cancellations in the month of June due to a computer outage in Charlotte. The cancellations will undoubtedly impact our reported passenger traffic next month."
