American Airlines adds nonstop flights to Philadelphia for the holidays
After a successful seasonal run, American Airlines is bringing back nonstop flights servicing Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) to and from Philadelphia, PA (PHL) for the upcoming holiday season.

The flights run December 16 through January 3 on peak days, departing PHL at 1:30 p.m. and arriving in DAB at approximately 4:03 p.m. Flights will depart DAB at 4:33 p.m. and arrive at 6:51 p.m. into PHL.

Last fall, the airline announced it was launching new, seasonal service to PHL and Dallas-Fort Worth, TX (DFW), with service beginning Dec. 17, 2020. American originally scheduled both flights to run through April 5, but due to strong bookings, the airline extended the Dallas-Fort Worth flights through the summer and the Philadelphia flights through September 7.

“The Philadelphia area is among the top 10 origination and destination markets in our catchment area, which includes all of Volusia County, and the planners with American Airlines recognize the demand for service,” said Airport Director Karen Feaster.

Route planners with American Airlines anticipate people from the Volusia County area to seek out travel opportunities in the northeast, like Maine, Vermont and Connecticut, by way of Philadelphia.

“It’s always good news for the community when the existing airlines increase service at Daytona Beach International Airport,” said Joanne Magley, the airport’s director of Air Service, Marketing & Customer Experience. “Air service development requires continuous relationship building with airline planners, keeping them up to date on growth in our community and the growing need for additional air service.”

American Airlines also offers multiple, daily nonstop flights to/from Charlotte, NC. In addition, DAB is served by Delta Air Lines, which offers multiple daily, nonstop flights to Atlanta, GA.

The most recent FDOT Statewide Aviation Economic Impact Study shows the Daytona Beach International Airport provides a total economic impact of over $2.1 billion annually to Volusia County while providing more than 2,382 local full-time employees.
