Daytona Beach International Airport Joins Blue Lightning Initiative

In recognition of National Human Trafficking Awareness month, Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) announced a formal partnership with the U. S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to fight human trafficking through the Blue Lightning Initiative (BLI) program.

“Daytona Beach International Airport is proud to partner with the Blue Lightning Initiative to help in the fight against human trafficking,” said Airport Director Karen Feaster. “Our employees and partners have undergone training to help identify indicators of human trafficking and are committed to the safety of the more than 700,000 passengers who travel through DAB each year.”

DAB official partnered with DHS and the U.S. Department of Transportation in November of 2023, when employees of the airport, airlines and other airport tenants were trained on indicators of human trafficking.

The BLI training illustrates common indicators of trafficking that aviation employees may encounter and how to immediately report suspected trafficking to law enforcement.

If a passenger suspects a potential trafficking situation, they can contact an airline representative who will notify security. They can also call the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at 1-888-373-7888. (24/7 and access to 170+ languages).
