Race fans know Michael Waltrip as the two-time Daytona 500 winner, former NASCAR Cup Series driver and team owner who serves as an analyst for FOX NASCAR. They may not know he launched Michael Waltrip Brewing Company in 2021.
On Monday, Feb. 12, Waltrip will serve as guest bartender at Daytona Beach International Airport, giving passengers the opportunity to chat it up with the legendary NASCAR winner while promoting his brews that are now available at the airport.
“I’m in Daytona Beach all the time and I always use Daytona Beach International Airport,” said Michael Waltrip.
“Anyone who flies through here knows how special and unique this airport is, and I’m excited our beer is here!”
On Feb. 12, Waltrip will guest-bartend from noon to 2 p.m. At noon, media and the public are welcome to grab a seat at the airport’s Java Moon, which is located on the second floor of the airport, just before the security checkpoint. Just before 1 p.m., Waltrip will greet passengers on the arriving 12:42 p.m. and departing 1:30 p.m. American Airlines flights from/to Charlotte, NC. Joanne Magley, director of Air Service, Marketing & Customer Experience, said the partnership is a natural fit.
“Daytona Beach International Airport is directly across from Daytona International Speedway, and we love welcoming the race teams and thousands of fans for racing events,” said Magley.
“Michael Waltrip is legendary in the sport of NASCAR and having his beers available here is a fun way to support our rich racing history. Plus, the fact that he’s a frequent flier through DAB and that he’ll be guest bartending, makes it all more personable for our passengers,” said Magley.
