Rolling 12-month airport passenger traffic up 3.6%

For the 12 months ending May 30, total passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) increased 3.6%, with 731,487 passengers traveling through the county-operated airport last year compared to 757,874 passengers this year.

Passenger traffic DAB decreased 6.8% for May in comparison with the same month last year. * During the month 63,751 passengers flew in or out of the facility, compared to 68,418 passengers last May.

“Last May, JetBlue accounted for over 8,100 passengers. However, traffic this month was down only 4,667 passengers, meaning our two major air carriers grew in May,” said Airport Director Rick Karl. “Through May of 2019, American Airlines has grown by 21% and Delta by 2% compared to last year. Both airlines are on pace to have record passenger traffic numbers this year at DAB.”

Karl added: “The recent passenger traffic increases for American Airlines are particularly impressive, and with the addition of LaGuardia service in May, it really shows they are making a significant commitment to our market. Even though overall traffic may be down slightly this year, we expect continued growth on our two major air carriers.”
